Watermelon
According to an article on sciencedaily.com, watermelon has a Viagra-like effect on one’s body, relaxing blood vessels and improving circulation. One of my favorite summertime recipes involves chopping fresh, cold watermelon into cubes and placing in a bowl then throw a spoonful of blue cheese crumbles on top. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle fresh cracked black pepper on top and you’ve got the perfect afternoon aphrodisiac!

Olive Oil
Filled with antioxidants, olive oil has many uses – some women use it as a moisturizer or cleanser to help prevent wrinkles and keep skin supple and fresh, as well in the kitchen for a variety of cooking dishes. In addition, the ancient Greeks believed that olive oil made men more virile. This ingredient is excellent for your heart’s health, blood flow and hormone production, making it an all-around winner. You can either drink a spoonful of this daily on its own or mix into your cooking, whether its pasta, fish or some other meat dish. It also makes a great salad dressing when combined with a tangy vinaigrette or as a dip for bread paired with some balsamic vinegar.

Figs
Not only do these luscious fruits symbolize sexuality and fertility (Adam and Eve wore fig leaves in the Bible to cover their private parts) , but they are loaded with potassium and antioxidants. They were also reported to be Cleopatra’s favorite fruit and were said to be associated with love and fertility amongst the ancient Greeks. These are delicious when consumed individually, and they also make a great spread for bread or crackers when combines with cheese, meat and wine.

Pomegranate
A study conducted by the Male Clinic in California found that pomegranate juice had a positive effect on those suffering from erectile dysfunction. This tasty and unique fruit is packed with antioxidants and supports blood flow as well. You can either drink this in its juice form or sprinkle the arils on some sorbet for dessert.

Basil
This simple staple makes meals smell and taste better and is also very stimulating to the senses. Its aroma is said to have an aphrodisiac effect, and you can mix some basil into any pasta sauce mix or sprinkle on top of your pasta, fish or chicken for a flavorful garnish.

Whether you want to add some spice to your sex life or some spice to your skillet, incorporating these ingredients into your dishes will be sure to have you feeling happy and satisfied! Bon appétit!
