Shibori, the art of traditional Japanese indigo hand dyeing by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing fabric, had its moment on SS2013 runways: Tory Burch and Band of Outsiders, to name two. From shibori dye workshops (like those offered by Lookout and Wonderland), to the Weekend 1 Coachella shibori explosion, everyone is getting their classy tie-dye on.
Here are just a few shibori inspired outfits for any occasion.
1. A simple shibori short from Band of Outsiders, paired with a summery Wildfox tee and sandals.
2. Silk and ladylike for the weekend. A long dress from Raquel Allegra with a pattern that meets in the middle. Heathered Jersey Lace Ups and Ray Bans polish off the outfit without detracting from it.
3. Mixing prints, for a date or dinner with girlfriends. A Bona Drag shibori crop top is casual, until you pair it with a bright, Project D Thelma below-the-knee skirt and on-trend Alexander Wang ‘Agata’ T-bar leather sandals.
