The Backwards Necklace Is Not A Thing

I know that fashion trends come and go. But once a year for the past two years there has been a fashion crime that the fashion police have refused to acknowledge- kind of like the whole Terry Richardson thing, but that’s for another time. The perp? Jennifer Lawrence. The accessory (literally and figuratively)? The backwards necklace. Is this not the dumbest most superfluous piece of jewelry in the history of accessories?

There’s a reason that necklace are called necklaces. They go around your neck and are supposed to be worn towards the front of your body. I’m all for personal style and mixing things up but wearing a necklace towards the back just doesn’t make any sense to me nor is it aesthetically pleasing. It also distracts from your back, which I think is sexiest when it’s bare.

There’s been embellished denim, peplum, bare midriffs, these are all trends that weren’t my favorite but didn’t aggravate me so much.

Maybe because they were actually trends instead of one person deciding to break every fashion rule for the sake of be daring and then repeating it AGAIN exactly one year later. Lets face it, the backwards necklace is all about attention. Have you ever seen anyone else wear it? Yeah, that’s exactly my point. It’s not a “thing” and it never will be.

So you can trip and talk about butt plugs all you want but this offense should only happen once…just like someone’s Oscar win.
