St. Patty's Day Cupcake Recipes: Whiskey Included

We love holidays. They give us an excuse to give presents, cook great food, and spend time with friends and family.

While St.Patty’s Day isn’t known for gift giving and big family dinners (although, hello corned beef and cabbage), there is an aspect of it that we all love: drinking! Please take no offense that we equate it with whiskey and Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Since taking shots of whiskey isn’t a weekly occurrence for us anymore (we miss you college, we miss you SO much) we’ve been experimenting with alcohol in our baking.

Yes, you heard that right. Alcohol, in cupcakes.

A lot of people immediately retort, “But Sasha, alcohol burns off when you heat it!” And my response is always, “Then put it in the frosting.”

We aren’t quite ready to give you our personal recipe for our favorite, the Irish Coffee Cupcake, but don’t fret, the one and only Martha Stewart has a great recipe that we can give you some tips on!

Martha Stewart Irish Coffee Cupcake

Irish coffees typically consist of coffee, whiskey, brown sugar, topped with some whipped cream.

Martha’s recipe has all of these things, but one thing I added to mine was Bailey’s in the frosting. Sure, you won’t find it in the original Irish Coffee recipe, but I dare you to find the person who complains about extra booze in their dessert.

We won’t stop at just an Irish Coffee recipe though, here are some other favorites inspired by drinks enjoyed on St. Patty’s Day.

Here is another extra tip: Use Crown Royal if you’ve got the cash for it while baking. It’s a sweeter whiskey than your old friend Jack.

And remember, please eat responsibly. – Sasha Huff
