I’m learning more and more that natural beauty doesn’t have to mean gross. A lot of natural products have unpleasant smells, cringe-worthy textures, and unreliable results. But this is not one of those products. Ipsy’s August Glam Bag stocked us up with some Back to School cool basics, but the real standout for this Ipster was Michael Todd True Organics Jojoba Charcoal Scrub.
Gluten-free and vegan friendly, instead of coming from sharp-edged seeds that can damage skin, or gritty granules that can scratch the surface too harshly, the Jojoba Charcoal scrub uses gentle JoJoba beads to get the job done without causing new issues. The brand explains that the scrub is “formulated with Jojoba Wax Beads and Activated Charcoal to effectively remove dead skin, impurities and toxins. Jojoba Wax Beads provide gentle exfoliation without leaving micro-lacerations on delicate skin. Highly absorbent Activated Charcoal penetrates deeply into pores to draw out impurities and toxins. Refines texture and encourages skin renewal, leaving skin smooth and refreshed.” Recommended for all skin types, the Jojoba Charcoal scrub is gentle enough for sensitive and acne prone skin types.
“After cleansing,” the directions guide, “apply the product to fingertips and lightly work in circular motions being careful not to overstimulate the skin. Follow with toner and moisturizer/serum.” The muddy color and texture of the scrub is a little surprising, but make the soft floral smell and silky results even more fun to discover.
The scrub’s lux natural ingredients include Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Juice, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut RBD) Oil, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Wax Beads, Emulsifying Wax, Palm Stearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai Fruit) Pulp Powder, Charcoal, Xanthan Gum (Polysaccharide Gum), Carbomer 980, Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui Nut) Oil, Spinacia Oleracea (Spinach) Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Glucolactone, Citric Acid.
