The label polder was created by two sisters, Madelon Lanteri-Laura and Natalie Vodegel who grew up in the Netherlands and spent their childhood living in an area where forested hills overlooked polders. The Dutch have a long history of restoring marshes and fenland, resulting in some 3,000 polders nationwide and the English saying: God created the world, but the Dutch created the Netherlands.

According to the site, the shapes are extremely pure, the work is focused on the research for prints and materials, colors and finish aim at creating a visually strong and knowledgeable product. The collections are a mix of a Nordic spirit, with a French touch of vintage, currently stocked in shops in Los Angeles, Mill Valley, and New York.
