Skinn Cosmetics Color Touch Eye, Cheek, and Lip Glow Review

glow, baby, glow

I’ve been pretty eager to sign on for the beauty subscription craze after a few months of severe Birchbox envy. I did a little research and decided to sign up with Beauty Army, which guides you through choosing six generously-sized samples tailored to your personal beauty profile, for $12 each month. (That is two bucks more than Birchbox or Ipsy per month, which both came highly recommended). My first kit came mere days ago, and one of the February BA box options I was most excited about was Skinn Cosmetic’s Color Touch Eye, Cheek, & Lip Glow. The super ample sample comes in a pretty universally flattering and fresh shade called Teen Tone, and ordinarily retails for $17.  The Teen Tone hue that arrived is a touch warmer, more peach, than the cool shade of pink that was pictured. That’s no big deal for my skin tone and features, but it might impact a different color profile.

I wasn’t a fan of the lip look Color Touch creates. It was a little too pale and matte for every day, but might work for a high-fashion glam look. I rubbed it in and put on a drop of  clear lip balm to soften the effect. For my cheeks it was a terrific shade, but very reminiscent of NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Big Apple Blush– a drugstore favorite that sells for about four bucks.  I wasn’t really prepared to be wowed since I didn’t dig its lip or cheek usage, but what I was surprised to love about this utilitarian little tub of pink pigment was how it worked for my eyes. The crisp color really made my brown eyes pop. I tried Teen Tone along my upper lash line and accented with the tiniest bit of grey shadow in my crease and over my liner. All of the lightest tones in my eyes seemed to really stand out and sparkle. I will definitely add it to my arsenal of eye make-up.

To try out the Color Touch, I rocked Holika Holika BB Cream (holla!) as a base, the Skinn Costmetics Teen Tone Eye Cheek & Lip Glow on the appropriate areas, Jane Water Resistant Eye Liner in Brown, Jane Smokey Palette eye shadow (just a touch of the graphite-tone grey), finished with Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Very Black, and an allover dusting of Make Up Forever HD Powder.
