Coachella Predictions

Many have lamented that over the years the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival has become less about the music and more about the scene. For a while now the music has done the backseat boogie (oogie oogie) to the parties, the pre-parties, the throngs of LA-ites, and the style. Always the style. Still, the festival clamors on and over the next three weeks, websites and blogs will overflow with Coachella content. Here are our fashion trend predictions, though going your own way is also more than acceptable, and always highly recommended.

ALL THE KINGS HORSES

Expect your Coachella neighbors to be sporting some kind of horse ephemera.

VISIONS IN VISORS

Thank Alexander Wang for the return of your mom’s golf staple. Although these newbies were given a bit of a facelift, and protecting your face from the Indio sun is definitely in style.  You are in golf country, after all.

MORE NEUTRALS

This spring the return of the new neutrals might mark more subdued looks on the fields of Indio. Like this outfit photo courtesy of Yo Vintage of Portland. Check out their Full Swing Champagne skirt, for purchase or inspiration. First come, first serve.

BUH-BYE TO BARELY THERE SHORTS

There will be plenty of girls running amok in cheek-baring cut-offs, that’s part of the desert’s game, but styles are moving away from (dare I say) trashy, and we are seeing a bit of class (and less of something else) back in women’s shorts styles. Joie’s Coachella picks feature shorts that will give you a bit more coverage.

TONED DOWN ARM-ORY

While sporting multiple passes and party bands was once considered a badge of pride/popularity, this year the less clutter, the better. We predict simple, gold bands, and dainty jewelry. Less is more-chella. Time to focus on the music, man.
