Tender-footed teen and The Carrie Diaries star Anna Sophia Robb ought to take notice: being Carrie Bradshaw can seriously harm those hooves, and she can look to her sole sister Sarah Jessica Parker for proof.
The original Carrie Bradshaw and former Sex And The City fashionista, SJP made headlines this week for a Net-A-Porter interview in which she confessed that her character’s signature stilettos are now a no-no since she’s realized how much her famous feet have suffered. “It’s sad, because my feet took me all over the world, but eventually they were like, ‘You know what, we are really tired, can you just stop – and don’t put cheap shoes on us?'”
“For ten or so years, I literally ran in heels.”
Carrie’s fancy footwear fetish, favoring the likes of Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik, is one of the famous character’s most recognizable traits. “For ten or so years, I literally ran in heels,” Sarah told reporter Jennifer Dickinson, referencing her successful stint on the Candance Bushnell novel-inspired HBO show. “I worked 18-hour days and never took them off. I wore beautiful shoes, some better made than others, and never complained.”
“But then I did I Don’t Know How She Does It, and I was very thoughtful about my whole wardrobe and said, you know, [Kate Reddy] could not afford really good footwear. So I got [lower priced] shoes and the bottoms weren’t leather, they were plastic, so I slipped a couple times, twisted my ankle. I went to a foot doctor and he said, ‘Your foot does things it shouldn’t be able to do. That bone there… You’ve created that bone. It doesn’t belong there.'” Ouch.
Though her posh pumps and sinful stilettos take center-stage on screen and while walking the red carpet, the forty-seven year old actress’ anguished feet have certainly been speculated about by us regular chicks who can barely make it through a night out in sky-high heels.
