It’s time to rock around the Christmas tree in the new old fashioned way. What better way to celebrate the yule tide season than throwing a party? It can be intimidating scrounging up a holiday soiree but here are a few helpful tips to make sure that your party goes off without a hitch.
1) Be Aware of Your Guests’ Needs
Are any of your guests vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free? Once you’ve invited your nearest and dearest to attend your festive fete it’s your responsibility to make sure that your guests are comfortable. That means making sure there are menu options that suit everyone’s restrictive diets, plenty of booze and non-alcoholic beverages, and not accidentally inviting their ex. Whoops!
2) Mingle With Some Jingle
We all want to be the hostess with the mostess but remember the reason that people are coming to your party- for you! Instead of obsessing over every minute detail of the stuffed mushrooms, relax and let the breadcrumbs fall where they may. Introduce your pals to other guests they may not know already and make sure to spend time with everyone who took their time to be with you for the holidays.
3) Positive Energy
It’s easy to dwell on the negatives during the holiday season.
“I’m single.”
“I didn’t get a raise.”
“2013 kinda blew.”
Don’t do that. And don’t let others dwell either.
Make sure to spread extra holiday cheer to your guests that might be going through a tough time. Also, leave the clean-up for the next day. Nothing brings a party down like trying to make it look like one never happened.
4) Parting Gifts
It can be as simple as a few homemade cookies or mini bottles of St. Germain but during the giving season it’s nice to give your guests a little take home that will remind them of how much fun they had at your party even after they’re home.
While all of these things will help make your holiday party more fun than Mommy kissing Santa Claus it’s really about spending time with the people that you love. The most important tip is to pack your guest list full of people who mean something to you and no matter what you do, your holiday party will be a success.
