Watercolor Patterns: Our Latest Fashion Obsession

she's a total Monet, or is she?

she’s a total Monet, or is she?

We can’t really begin to explain how excited we are that other people are noticing the beauty of watercolor in fashion and home design. Bright, bold patterns are in for spring (as they usually are!) and while we obviously adore the floral patterns we’ve seen around, we also love the idea of going the watercolor route for our lively dress and pant wardrobe.

We’re a big fan of wild patterns, and our idea of a perfect outfit is a loud color dress with minimal make up and accessories. We love letting the fabric speak for itself, and a colorful watercolor pattern will do just that.

It also made us incredibly happy when one of our favorite DIY home design bloggers, Katie Bower, surveyed her blogger friends about upcoming home design trends for 2013. On that list? “Painterly Abstracts” which TWO design bloggers agreed would be hot this year! Swoon!

Here are some pieces we are coveting right now, that we think you will enjoy as well!

Rebecca Taylor Aurora Double-V Tee – Leave it to fashion’s leading lady of fem to create a soft and mellow artful watercolor print.

Akira Watercolor Mini Skirt – Channel your inner Monet in this mini. Though you certainly have better legs than he did.

Lela Rose Dress – We love the dark and bright color combination of this dress.

Print Crop Pants – A great alternative to a floral print.

Ralph Lauren Dress – For the more conservative pattern lover.

Eliza J Flare Dress – A flirty date night dress that will make your man or woman swoon!

Suzi Chin For Maggy Boutique – This flowy dress would be perfect for a casual outdoor wedding or a spring BBQ with friends.

London Times Dress – The perfect little colorful dress for a night out on the town!

Emily Rickard Pillows – Everything on this page makes us very, very happy.

Spring Blossom, West Elm – Feminine, yet subtle. A great pick for a room you share with your non-floral loving partner.

You could also DIY some of these pieces, if you are so bold as to try! What is your favorite pattern for the season? -Sasha Huff
