Total Eclipse = New Beginnings

eclipse

If you’re like me, the first thing that pops into your head when you hear the word, “eclipse,” is that amazing 1983 power ballad that gets the phrase “turn around” etched in your memory. For. Days. And while Bonnie Tyler and “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” made a serious contribution to pop culture and karaoke, real eclipses have a bit more power– even without the ballad.

Astrology is cheaper than therapy so as of late I’ve been looking to the stars for advice.

April has two eclipses this year. The first, the “blood moon” lunar eclipse was on April 14th.  Scientifically, a lunar eclipse means that the moon slips behind the shadow of the Earth and is no longer visible.

Coming up next, April promises a solar eclipse on the 29th.  A solar eclipse is almost the opposite of the lunar eclipse and occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun (warning: make sure not to look at a solar eclipse directly – it’s dangerous for your peepers). In each eclipse one of the major parts of our solar system is obstructed from view on Earth. But aside from the astronomy part, what does it mean?

In astrology, eclipses are known to move things forward. This can be good or bad, but they’re known to lock the past in the past.  The meaning of each eclipse can vary greatly from person to person, depending on their Zodiac and rising signs.  But whether you’re a Cancer or a Libra, an eclipse is a good reminder to move forward in our lives.

If you don’t feel the cosmic forces from the eclipse(s) at work in you or for you, here are a few ways to nudge your life forward on your own.

-Take stock of all of your relationships in your life. If someone or something is not good for you, let them go.

-Think outside of the box for solutions to any problems you’re consistently having. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, right?

-Force yourself to try things outside of your comfort zone. Nothing will move you forward like new challenges and experiences.

If all else fails, play Total Eclipse of the Heart on a loop while you howl at the eclipse. Being placed under a 5150 hold will be a new experience and a challenge.

And besides, every now and then we fall apart.
