Emerald City: Pantone's 2013 Hot Hue at Sephora and JCP This Spring

Pantone 2013 Color Emerald Green

We’ve been to see the Wizard, and we’re into it.

Design aficionados may recognize it as Pantone 17-5641, but Dorothy will tell you this year’s whimsical hue is more commonly called Emerald Green. From your face to your living space, Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year selection presents a simple way to add a wicked pop of pigment to your world.

“Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions,” executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, said of the choice. “It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity – no other color conveys regeneration more than green.”

The trend-setting jewel-tone will be featured in a limited edition beauty collection, Sephora + Pantone Universe™ 2013 Color of the Year. Including eye shadow, nail polish, and accessories, the technicolor cosmetic collaboration will be available exclusively at Sephora in March.

“At Sephora, we pride ourselves on giving our clients first access to what’s on trend – whether that’s a color, a formula or an ingredient story. With the 2013 Color of the Year collection, we achieve all of the above and we couldn’t have a better partner than Pantone,” Margarita Arriagada, the cosmetic giant’s senior vice president of merchandising, explained.

But there’s no place like home. And to bring the rich shade’s prosperous ambiance into your abode, JCPenney will be stocking essential Emerald Green goods too. Beginning February 1, the department store will include a new line of house wares, including linens and appliances. “As we re-energize our home department next spring, we are excited to partner with the leading authority on color to introduce the first-ever line of Pantone bedding and bath products,” said Paul Rutenis, JCP general merchandise manager for home. “The cheerful array of on-trend pieces will make it easy for customers to infuse the perfect color into any home décor.”
